This release compiles all of Sonny Rollins’ known recordings from his trio tour of Europe in March 1959 - presented here for the first time ever on a single set. Included here are many hard to find performances and even a previously unissued set taped in Frankfurt. The bassist is Henry Grimes, with drummer Pete La Roca, who was replaced on two sessions by two great American drummers who were living in Europe at the time: Joe Harris and Kenny Clarke.

The long unavailable Aix-en-Provence concert with Clarke contains Rollins’ last existing notes before his self-imposed exile from music - not recording again until his 1962 comeback album ‘The Bridge’.

This set contains Rollins’ only existing versions of “A Weaver of Dreams”, “Lady Bird”, “Cocktails for Two”, and “Stay as Sweet as You Are”. 3CD Set - Total Time: 177:34 mins. - 26 tracks - includes 16-page booklet.
Note: This music comes from live private recordings and broadcasts, and although the sound quality is good throughout, some imperfections exist.

The complete recordings by The Jazz Modes, an experimental small jazz formation fronted by Charlie Rouse on tenor sax and Julius Watkins on French horn, plus Gildo Mahones on piano. With slight personnel variations, this group recorded a total of five albums, most of which are now very hard to find. All of these are included here in their entirety and in chronological order. Included, as a bonus, are three further complete albums, all of which were originally issued as 10” LPs - including Oscar Pettiford’s ‘Oscar Rides Again’ : being the only other existing album, outside of the Jazz Modes body of work, to feature both Rouse and Watkins in the front line. Plus the two volumes by the Julius Watkins Sextet, which present Watkins in the company of other celebrated tenor saxophonists: Frank Foster and Hank Mobley. Albums included : ‘Jazzville '56, Vol.1’; ‘Les Jazz Modes (1956): and ‘Mood in Scarlet’ (1956) - all originally on Dawn; ‘The Most Happy Fella’ (1957) and ‘The Jazz Modes’ (1959) - both originally on Atlantic; ‘Oscar Rides Again’ (1954) - originally on Bethlehem; ‘New Faces, New Sounds’ (1954), and ‘Julius Watkins Sextet Volume Two’ (1955) - both originally on Blue Note.

Between 1953 and 1956, producers John Hammond and George Avakian recorded an amazing series of swing sessions with trumpeter Buck Clayton, as leader - and featuring a stellar list of jazz stars, including : Coleman Hawkins, Woody Herman, Al Cohn, Buddy Tate, Trummy Young, Ruby Braff, Urbie Green, Freddie Green, Milt Hinton and Jo Jones.

Originally released on various LPs, all of the original master takes from these sessions are contained on this wonderful set, which contains some of the most exciting swing music ever recorded.

Born in Kansas City, Wilbur Dorsey “Buck” Clayton (1911-1991) is one of the best- remembered swing trumpeters of all time. He began his career in Kansas; left the USA from 1934 to 1937 to live and play in Shanghai - probably the first jazz artist to gain renown in China, where he fronted a band with Teddy Weatherford. Clayton returned to America and replaced Hot Lips Page in the Count Basie orchestra, where he would stay for many years, whilst also recording with small groups under his own name.

Definitive 3CD set of Fletcher Henderson’s Orchestra, the first great big band, and which from 1923 to 1939 was one of the very best swing ensembles, rivalling even Ellington.

This long-unavailable collection was the first to compile the best works of Fletcher Henderson who, by the early 1960s, had fallen into obscurity. Even though his recording career spanned over 25 years and his many bands included some of the most outstanding jazzmen ever, his name would only be brought up during later years in reference to his hit-arrangements for the Benny Goodman Orchestra - but his early influence on every band of the swing era is undoubted.

This set puts together all of the masterpieces from the original collection, as well as ten bonus tracks featuring Ben Webster, Chu Berry and Roy Eldridge with the Henderson band.

John Coltrane, tenor & soprano sax; McCoy Tyner, piano; Jimmy Garrison, bass; Elvin Jones, drums - Konserthuset, Stockholm, Sweden, November 19, 1962.

Two long unavailable Coltrane concerts - complete and in a single set for the first time ever. Recorded in Stockholm, Sweden, on November 19, 1962, with ‘Trane’s classic quartet : McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, and Elvin Jones.

John Coltrane embarked on an ambitious European tour with his classic quartet in mid-November 1962 (including Paris, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Graz, and Milan). Fortunately, a number of these performances were recorded. This release presents the two complete concerts, with different audiences, given at the Konserthuset, in Stockholm.

The sound quality is good in both sets and, although some titles are repeated, Trane and his band are heard here at the pinnacle of their genius.

3CD Set - Total Time: 199:19 mins. - 16 tracks - Includes 16-page booklet.
