Works: Rhapsody in A major Scherzo in D minor
Ballad in A minor
Artists: Oliver Triendl (piano) Daniel Gaede (violin)
Hariolf Schlichtig (viola) Peter Bruns (violoncello)
On this new release for CPO is a selection of chamber works by Joseph Marx. His Rhapsody, Scherzo and Ballad may seem like small scale chamber compositions, but they are in actual fact works of symphonic scale.
As well as the chamber works, Joseph Marx created many songs that have gone into Austrian music history and gained worldwide fame. CPO will soon be releasing some of these songs in interpretations by the mezzo-soprano Angelika Kirschschlager.
