This new duo recording from esteemed UK jazz musicians, multi reeds specialist
Alan Barnes and pianist David Newton, is the culmination of over 33 years
performing and recording together.
Alan Barnes plays clarinet, and alto and baritone saxophones with equal facility and David
Newton has an astonishing ability, gleaned from Dave McKenna recordings, to keep rolling
bass lines going in the left hand, whilst playing soaring improvisations in the right.
The pair are in inspired form on a selection of jazz gems covering a wide range from Don
Redman to Chick Corea. A relaxed and beautifully recorded session with a superb warm
sounding piano.
