Founded on a love of modern classical music, improvisation, and a passion for natural, un-amplified sound, leading bassist Malcolm Creese’s trio Acoustic Triangle successfully bridges the boundaries between the genres. Malcolm’s two long-term colleagues are Tim Garland, admired as one of the world’s finest saxophonists, and the extraordinary young pianist Gwilym Simcock. The trio’s material, composed by Garland and Simcock, reflects their classical backgrounds as well as their careers in the jazz world, with a commitment to exploring extended compositions together with their own brand of improvisation.

In addition to its busy schedule of concerts around the world, the trio has collaborated with the Choir of Westminster Abbey, Northern Sinfonia, the BBC Concert Orchestra, Kenny Wheeler, Carolyn Sampson, Gerard Presencer and Liane Carroll. The 3 Dimensions project, with 14 concerts between May and October 2008, builds on the trio’s passion for creating new music which celebrates the extraordinary acoustics of large buildings.

“...full of melody and drama, convincingly merging notated scores with the explorations of first-rate improvisers ”.
John Bungey, Times Online
